Handling Hail Damage with New Look Roof

🚨 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Jefferson County 🚨

Those words strike fear into people. How bad is this storm going to be? Will there be a tornadic activity? Will there be hail damage? Questions rise and when disaster does strike it can leave you in a vulnerable position. You’ll have to make decisions, contact insurance companies, and start on the path to pick up the pieces and reach full recovery.

Hail damage is one of the most common severe weather activities that occur in Louisville. Our team of roofing and exterior repair experts are well-informed on how to work with insurance companies and educate homeowners on the processes and procedures they will need to follow in order to get their home back to fully recovery.

How Hail Damage Impacts Your Home

There are several ways that hail can impact your home and can lead to what we call secondary damage. For example, hail may take a portion of your gutter system out-of-commission and if there is a downpour, water can pool at the base of your home and can cause flooding in your basement. The primary damage (gutters) lead to the secondary damage (basement flooding).

  • Gutter Damage

    • Hail can land with an impact force great enough to take a gutter system out completely or partially. This can lead to water pooling around your foundation causing flooding on the ground level or basement level of your home. Be sure to check your gutter systems after a hailstorm!

  • Roof Damage

    • Hail can chip, crack, or peel shingles on your home. The force in which they rain down can also cause puncture spots on your roof. While this is rare, be sure to examine the ceilings of your home as well as the viewable areas of your roof outside after a storm.

  • Window Damage

    • Ricochet hail can crack windows or break a window seal. It’s always a good idea to check all windows in the home after a hail damage for cracks or viewable seal damage (condensation after the next rain or morning dew).
