Four Roofing Statistics That Are Worth Remembering
At New Look Roofing, we are more than quality roof installers with great personalities ;). We also believe in educating people and making sure they understand the importance of roof, gutter, window, and siding maintenance. Part of that is following the benefit of replacing vs. repairing and what is going to be the best value to you long-term. We want to make sure that you are getting the best value for your money for the most prolonged period.
With that, for today’s blog, we are going to run down four statistics that are worth knowing within the roofing industry.
1. Roofing is booming
There are over 50,000 organizations engaged in the installation of roofing and siding. The forecast is a 4% increase year-over-year through 2020 concerning roofing sales. With a surge in companies entering the roofing industry and the number of jobs rising under new companies in the market, it is essential to ensure you're getting quality, first-rate service. Consumers check companies online before moving to the "interview" stage, about 90% of the time—which is what we recommend.
2. 40% of all building issues are related to water intrusion
Have you ever walked into a bedroom and noticed your beautiful white ceiling had shades of yellow? Water leaks account for nearly half of all issues found within homes and business. A lot of water intrusion issues are from faulty roofs that aren't appropriately secured. This is why quality-of-product, attention to detail, and customer feedback is vital when you’re looking for an industry professional.
3. The roofing industry is in Top 10 of BBB complaints
Of the complaints that have been filed with the Better Business Bureau, over 50% have been based upon poor quality workmanship. 25% complained about the inability to contact the roofer or project manager. 16% complained about a starting delay or a blown deadline. And lastly, 13% complained about the delay/failure to make repairs.
What can we learn from this? When you’re looking for a roofing company, reputation matters. Review a company’s BBB profile (our rating). Review their online reviews (our reviews). If a problem popped up, did they respond professionally and effectively? All of those elements are important.
4. New roofs hold an incredible amount of resale value.
A new roof can be a sizable expense. However, unlike other home repairs, some real estate experts estimate that a new roof can return 85% of its cost upon the sale of your home. Buyers are more than willing to pay more for a home that has a new roof, as that is generally one of the more expensive home exterior projects. What’s more, is that a new roof can protect your home from the elements and save you money on insurance, mitigation of water damage, and structural damage.
